Fondant Magnitude Car
I recently had the honor of creating a fondant car cake topper to replicate Jerry Magnuson's Magnitude car. The commission came from Jerry's daughter and the fondant Magnitude car cake topper was a surprise for her Mom and Dad's 25th wedding anniversary AND Mom's birthday!
First, here is the real thing...
This topper was a blast to work on, first because it was my first car, and second, because my husband knows Jerry's daughter and wanted to be in on the creation. The car is an award winner and so my husband added a trophy...

I say, not bad for his first try. Hmmm, maybe he can be my new assistant!

Fondant Noah's Ark Cake Toppers
Have you ever heard Bill Cosby's Noah routine? If you haven't it is a must hear! It came to mind recently when I was asked to make Noah's ark themed toppers for two different cakes.
The first request came from a cake designer in Aspen, Colorado. Her request, Fondant Noah and Fondant giraffes, lions, monkeys and elephants on lollipop sticks that could be stuck into an ark cake.

NOTE: The giraffes did get spots -- they were painted on after the photos were taken.
The second request was for a fondant Noah's ark toppers for a baby shower cake. This design included four free standing palm trees, Noah, an ark, and 2 of each animal, including a pair of black labrador retrievers.
I am thankful for the "Noah" reminder and had a wonderful time working on these toppers!

Oh no, not another blog redesign!
I know, I know, but please don't look at this as just another redesign, look at it as a help. After all, my goal is to make it easy for YOU to make it fabulous!
The redesign will allow me to make things easier for you to locate on my blog...toppers from my Etsy shop, custom toppers, recipes and decorating ideas.
And IF you would like to share recipes that are tried and true that you would like to contribute, or photos of your Cupcake Stylist toppers and how you used them to dress your own cakes, cupcakes and desserts, I would gladly share them. Just send to me at CupcakeStylist@aol.com or post them on my Facebook page.
Thank you. I truly consider it an honor to be able to participate in your celebrations of life and love.

Life on the farm...
I love the fact that inspiration is all around us!
My husband and I took a walk through a portion of the Cal Poly campus on Sunday, and I was reminded of just how blessed we are to live where we do. And so here it is, inspiration for cake and cupcake toppers, from my neck of the woods...

and, my VERY loose interpretation...
Although I don't actually live ON a farm, I'm happy that these wonderful creatures are just a hike away!

My Little Monkey...
I love making monkey cake and cupcake toppers -- each one seems to take on a life of its own. When I see them, I smile, so I thought I would share a few smiles with you...

Thank you for Serving!
My first cupcake topper order was for a family serving in the military -- the husband had been serving and would be returning in time to celebrate their twins first birthday. What an honor it was to create the toppers for this family and this incredible homecoming and celebration!
Now, several months later, I was privileged to create toppers for another family who is serving this great nation of ours. This time, the toppers are for Colonel Walker, who will be captaining a US Navy ship.

Thank you Colonel Walker...and all who serve. We appreciate your service and dedication to serving this great nation of ours.

Take me out to the ball game
Tiffani found me on Etsy, and asked for a safari animal set, customized to include a Tiger holding a number 3 sculpture, and a palm tree.
Tiffani did a great job of creating the safari themed cake that follows...
Fast forward a bit and Tiffani is at it again. Only this time she had a baseball themed cake in mind. The cake was to be a 10" round on a 14" square. She provided me with a list of items that she wanted for the cake and this is what I made.
For the top of the top tier: 6" baseball bat, 3" tall Yankee baseball cap, 4" mitt, two baseballs, a large #8
Side of the top tier: Baseball pennants spelling out the name "ASHER"
Top of the bottom tier: 4 base plates
Side of the bottom tier: jerseys with the number 8, baseball bats, mitts, stars
Additional decorations: small baseballs (to be interspersed with beading), and 2 2" baseball mits for two of the corners of the cake.
The toppers haven't even shipped yet, so I don't have a "finished cake" photo to show you at the moment, but I can't wait to see it! I hope you can picture it in your mind.
If you can dream it, I would love the opportunity to make it in fondant!
Happy Styling,
Deborah

Cake and Cupcake Topper Style Stars
Oh my, has it really been a month since my last posting? I apologize for that. There has been a whole lot of celebrating going on around the world (yes world!) and my hands have been busy MAKING these little guys.
Safari animals have been very popular and at the moment, I cannot tell you just how many lions, tigers, giraffes, zebras, hippos, elephants and monkeys I have made. The thing that I love, love, love about making each little cake and cupcake topper is that each is totally unique. Each topper is made with love and a prayer of blessing for the life of the person receiving the toppers, their family and for their celebration.
I haven't photographed every topper made, but here are the highlights from the past month...
So, as you can see, I have been busy, but have loved every moment of it! If you are interested in a custom creation for your special celebration, I would be happy to work with you to make your vision come to life...well fondant = )
